"Quality has no regrets" has been our motto from day one at Pilkington
Competition. We now extend that offer into the 1911 competition
pistol world and offer the finest accurized 1911 on the planet. It
is not cheap, but it’s the best there is. It will shoot better than
anything else out there and it will maintain that accuracy without
needing rebuilt every few years. Typical groups out of a Ransom
Rest will be 1 3/4s inch group or less. The the gun will actually shoot
better than that for two reasons. First, any gun’s potential
accuracy will improve with the first 500 rounds as the barrel smooths out. Second, because the 1911 is a recoil operated action,
where the slide and barrel operates independent of the frame, it is
impossible to measure true accuracy with a Ransom Rest or
other similar systems because the Accu-lock lockup is between the
sights and barrel inside the slide and not dependent on the
constantly moving (and wearing!) slide rail fit as in most other
accurazation processes. The gun will always shoot better out of the
hand because the sight picture is a truer constant than the slide to
frame rail fit that is the determining factor from a 1911 style gun when
shot from a Ransom Rest.
We will offer this gun with a normal stipple grip or handcut checkering. Triggers will normally be glass rod breaking crisp. If you want a buttersmooth roll trigger, that can be done too. Case lots of ammo matched to the gun are available as well. Guns are sold through Pilkington Competiton on a limited basis for those not wishing to wait the 2 -3 months for a normal production gun. Please feel free to visit the Accu-Lock page as well. |

Here the slide stop pin is fully up into the locked position,
forcing the barrel locking lugs into the slide lugs. Notice that the front of slide, which
is solid with the barrel and the front sight, is locked firmly into place with the Accu-lock
teeth. This mechanical lock-up by its very nature, will not wear out its precision fit,
unlike traditionally accurized guns using a fitted barrel and fitted barrel bushing which
will begin to wear almost immediately and may need to be redone every season to maintain top accuracy.
