This .22 caliber target pistol was a successor to to Giffard's 1859 patented pump action pneumatics. This example, based on the 1889 patent, uses a detatchable, cylindrical reservoir of liquid CO2 that is screwed into a threaded valve below the barrel. Extra cylinders could be purchased for quick reloading.
