I can't seem to fire a tight group, anything better then almost an 8mm group, bench resting my IZH-46. Yet I've shot tighter
groups shooting off hand with the same pistol?!
I use an inexpensive pistol rest that I bought, I'm obviously trying very hard to sight as carefully as I can, squeeze the trigger
straight back, pistol seems to maintain same sight picture after the shot, etc. My scoped P3 gets almost one hole accuracy at 10
meters using the same bench rest gear and technique!!!
I recently had Tim McMurray inspect the crown and refinish it. There did seem to be some slight burrs at the end of some of the
rifling. The groups seemed to tighten up a bit after that treatment. I don't get that much difference using MeisterKugeln,
Nygords, or H&N H.S. Match pellets.
We checked all of the seals. The chrono shows fairly consistent readings between 401 and 410 FPS. Waiting a minute before
shooting doesn't have a measureable effect on velocity.
Struggling 88% shooter with losing confidence in his equipment ... :-)

Mako, I was never able to get my IZH to group worth anything from a rest. The cocking linkage defied all attempts to get a
consistent rest. Here is what I did to find the "accuracy" of the gun. I took a piece of hardwood about 8 inches long and three
inches wide( I used rosewood from my dads wood shop, please don't tell him) I then used a router to duplicate the groove that
would match the frame of the gun where the grips attach. I used the stock grip screws to hold this to the gun. This mess was then
clamped into my bench vise. It has to be storng or cocking the gun will move it in the vise. The results were amazing. Lets just
say that the lousy groups I was shooting were not the fault of the gun! My gun shot the cheap Gamo (Daisy) match pellets very
well.
