Steyr Grip Adjustments - Wrist Angle

Posted by Roland Cannon on August 23, 1999 at 21:28:41:
If someone could please explain the ultimate goal with this adjustment I would be more than pleased. I find I can adapt my wrist to almost any adjusted angle, but what is considered correct? Is correct what feels good? The good feel for me is with the wrist locked, but I understand this is not correct. Please sign me....desperate to reach the high 80's...thanks all!

Hi Roland,
The purpose as I understand it is to get your wrist bent down as you grip and sight so that there is little of no downward range of motion left in your wrist. This prevents you from breaking your wrist as you release a shot. The adjustment of the grip from side to side is meant to adjust the barrel alignment with your wrist and arm. I have this problem that I had to adjust by carving and filling the grip. When you grip the pistol and raise it to firing position the sights should be in alignment. If not you adjust the side to side in the Styer grip until the sight picture aligns naturally with no side to side input from the shooter. HTH
