Air Pistol for Conventional Pistol (Bullseye) Practice

Posted by mike fletcher on September 15, 1999 at 07:26:55:
Gentlemen, I need you advice. I would like to purchase an air gun to use in my basement to practice for Bullseye competition. I think I would like a precompressed pneumatic repeater. What are your recommendations?
Thanks, MRF

The best and only one I know is the Styer LP5. You can go to CO2 with the Condor DU-10 or the Aeron B-96 for less than half the cost of the LP10. All these guns are more accurate than you so you will never be able to blame them for your poor scores.

I have an LP5 (CO2) for this purpose. Use the "heavy" (centerfire) trigger, not the "light" (rapid fire) trigger. Scott told me how to modify the barrel shroud and scope rings so no rail is required. I shoot it with an Ultradot from Larry Carter (http://www.larrysguns.com) mounted in one ring and cantilevered back over the receiver.
With a long steel tank it weighs right around 3# (don't recall exactly). Trigger, of course, is quite nice. Nicer than most bullseye guns.
Aeron B-96 is said to be a good low cost choice. (http://www.epistols.com) DU-10 is not great, IMHO, I had one and it took many hours of trigger work to get it decent. Succumbed to a discount deal from Scott and switched to the LP5.
