Morini 162E Trigger

Posted by Roland Cannon on October 26, 1999 at 19:45:45:
I have been playing with this gun most of the week. I enjoy the gun just fine. My problem is this. It has an electronic trigger, obviously. I think this is the best point of the gun, but possibly the worst at the same time. How reliable is this unit? Also how expensive or time consuming would a repair to the electronic unit be? Thanks!!!!

We had a big influx of Morinis about three years ago in this country (Australia), so I guess I'm part qualified to comment on their reliability.
As far as the electronic trigger goes, I can't remember any problems that have caused any grief. I personally know around thirty shooters who use them, and I guess I've serviced around twenty (main o rings) so far.
I don't understand the assumption that an electronic trigger must be better. I personally prefer a well set up mechanical trigger. Not because of possible unreliability, any trigger can develop problems. But I would tend to carry a spare battery, just in case. One friend had a trigger unit that was shorting out somewhere and he'd only get a few hundred shots per battery - but this was eventually fixed by the agent.
One thing to watch is the early model 162E had no trigger stop. We've fitted quite a few, and I believe the factory has started fitting them as standard a couple of years ago. Makes a big difference I think.

The Morini electronic trigger unit is very reliable. Since it came on the marked in 1992 I have never heard complaints. I have had one myself and is using the mechanical only because of the adjustable grip. (The mechanical trigger of morini is the best mechanical trigger I have used.) Some of my teammates still uses their 1992 pistols with only a few battery and a few O-rings changes. I am now using Morini CM84E freepistol also this has a flawless electronic trigger system. Their system is even built into (a few) hammerli freepistols. So dont worry, have fun. lot's of 10's
