Couple of questions for anyone in the know regarding competition...
1. Where can I get a copy of the official rules and scoring guidelines for international air-rifle competition (or whatever style is
used here in the US)?
2. For those who can't afford specific shooting jackets and gloves, are there any substitutes allowed other than a sweatshirt?
3. If I place my brow directly against the top of the rear peep sight it seems to steady my aim even further. Is this allowable in
competition?
Thanks in advance...

:1. Call USA Shooting 719 578 4670
: 2. You can use whatever you want, so long as it meets the thickness and tightness restrictions in the rules.
: 3. As far as I know this is not illegal, but it would put your neck at an uncomfortable position, that would lose you points across the
course.

: 1. Both USA Shooting (www.usashooting.org) and NRA have international airgun comps. USA Shooting is the better bet.
: 2. Anything you want as long as it meets the clothing specs (thickness and stiffness)
: 3. I just looked over the rules and couldn't find a prohibition, but personally, I'd spend some serious time working on your position
and sight adjustments so you didn't do that. Besides sounding uncomfortable, it introduces another weld point to the rifle that
must be controlled and by your description, it sounds as though your basic position needs help to steady your sight picture.
Pressing your face onto the sight isn't the way to do this. You may want to contact the NRA or USA Shooting to locate a
certified coach that can help you.

Dear Brian:
I tried to E-mail you direct but the mail would not go through. I am hoping you will see this and get the info anyway. A Jacket is
absolutely essential. You must have one to hope to really improve. The off-the-shelf ones are just dandy for an average build
person.
If you are not overly large or thin and between 5'4" and say 6'2" you should fit in rack jackets. For now you can use good work
type boots untill you can afford shooting shoes. They do help a lot in giving a very good stable platform to start from. A glove is
also cheap, mine cost around $23.00.
Custom fit clothing is only needed after you have been shooting for a few years or if you cannot fit in rack clothing. I would start
with a jacket and glove. Then get shoes and shoe trees(they keep the special soles flat when you are not using them. They
extend the life of the shoes. I made my own)
Then get pants last of all. I reccomend getting catalogs and reading them. The following outfits have web sites, Neil Johnson's
Gunsmithing Inc.,Champion Shooters supply,Center Shot Sports,T2 Stocks. Also you should use the old 555-1212 and get
Champions Choice catalog from Lavergne Tennessee.
These people will gladly send you a catalog. Brouse through them and get an idea what you want. I recommend the house
brand from Champions Shooters. My pants came from there and the quality is great as is the price. They are also in American
sizes and you do not have to convert to metric sizes.
The only accessory for the rifle you will really need is an adjustable iris for the rear. One with size and color filters are all that is
needed. You also sound like your head position is off. You must keep your head upright at all times. Adjust your cheek piece or
roll the rifle too you if you must. You can also
move your buttplate down also. You want your eye directly behind the sight without having tomuscle it there. It should almost sit
there for you. I hope this helps. If you have more questions please give me your E-mail address and I will try to answer your
questions
