Haven't read much about the Hammerli 480K2 ; how does it compare to the FWB P34 ?

I shoot for Texas A and M university and we have 5 hammerli 480's. They shoot great but we have had to send all 5 back to
switzerland to be repaired. This happened 2 years ago, I was not there at the time so I can't tell you what went wrong. But we
are purchesing a new gun this year and it will be a "mandrell" styer. We only have one right now and it has never caused us any
problems. Ultimatly it is the coaches decision for getting new guns, but he asked us for our input and no one wanted to send
back more hammerli's. Now that they have been repaired we have not had any problems with them and like I said they are
great shooting guns. As for the P34 I have never even had a chance to pick one up.

I am in the lucky position of being able to play with and shoot and LP10,LP5,FWB34 and a Pardini K2.
I am testing them all at the moment for an article and will be lettin gother people give their opinions of them as well.
So far all are extremely good and all have shot 1 hole grooups with the right ammo.It really is down to personal preferences.
My own are :
1. LP10 as I can adjust the grips better than any other gun I shoot dropped wrist style.
2. FWB 34 Feels higher in the hand but the recoil system is superb.
3. K2. Build quality is superb and accuracy is hard to fault . Fastest lock time.
4. LP5 ..Well it really is a 5 shot repeatere and is best at that.
I did have a Morini as well with electric trigger but got rid of it as the grip was not adjustable for rake due to the electronics.
Mechanically very sound tho..
A few thoughts....

Hello Dean,
The 480K2 has excellent grips (available in four or five sizes), and a great trigger. Two things I didn't like about it are the lack of
a device to indicate air pressure, and the need for tools to adjust the sights. This is a world-class pistol, and you certainly won't
give anything away by purchasing one.
On the other hand, the P-34 has been called the best 10m pistol available, mostly because of it's recoil eliminating mechanism.
I'm sure that it's inherent accuracy isn't any better than that of the K2, but it's possible that, if you shooting technique leaves a
little to be desired, that you might shoot a little higher with it. Then again, I still maintain that proper technique and lots of
practice will overcome the small gains achieved solely through the use of a recoil eliminating pistol.
I own products from both manufacturers, so I am not brand-baised. However, my choice would be the P-34, as long as I didn't
have to pay more than a few dollars for it over the K2. It's always nice to have the latest thing, and many shooter will get a
mental "boost" from having that latest thing. The way you feel about the equipment you own can't be overlooked.
If I had to pay a substantial premium to buy the P-34, then I would get something else. Certainly, if I owned a K2, I wouldn't
trade up to a P-34, mainly because it really isn't much of a trade up. I guess I'm not the kind that always feels the need to have
the latest thing.
