I'm thinking about purchasing a 480K and want
opinions on the pistol, good or bad!
-Reliability
-Are the wood grips good? I heard some were
made by Morini!
-Ease of use
etc....
I appreciate your time in answering my post!

Haemmerli is producing 480K2 now
but will soon move to AP40.
Usually they 480K2 have plastic grips altough you
can order wood grips (at an additional cost?)
For about 100$ u can have a Steyr or FWB
equipped with compensators, ported barrels,
shock absorbers, morini grips(for Steyer).
I have a IZH 46 and if I was to upgrade
I would choose either a Steyr or a FWB.

I shoot the Hammerli 480K2; started out with the 480 (big yellow & black cylinder) about 5 years ago and had it converted to the 480K2 this spring. I absolutely love it and have popped quite a number of good scores with it (580+ range). The compensation system is the best of any airgun I've ever shot and the trigger is great (if you like a little bit of roll in your trigger, like I do). It's been very reliable; the only things I've had to do is replace the dry fire/live fire switch about 3 years ago, and like I said I had it converted from the 480 to the 480K2 b/c the seals started leaking. Just wanted to give you some positive feedback b/c I think the Hammerli gets a bad rap from most shooters.

Reliability -- about as good as any other high-end maker. The European Championships were won with this model, so it can't be too bad!
Yes, the wood grips are good -- very good in fact. However, I liked the plastic ones more, especially since you can get them in five different sizes.
The 480K is very easy to use -- but then again I don't consider any PCP 10m pistol to be difficult to use.
The 480K has been overshadowed by the pistols already mentioned, but if you can get one at a good price, I would say go for it. It's still a world-class pistol, and at the levels that most of us shoot at, you won't be giving up anything to any other shooters by using one.
