480 to 480K2 Conversions

For anyone interested in upgrading the original 480 to a 480K2, it can be done by Haemerli in Switzerland. I have noticed several used or close out 480s at reasonable prices on the internet and they can be converted to the newer style removable cylinder. The trigger can also be upgrade (see the 10P files to compare the 480 trigger to the trigger found on the 480K, 480K2, and AP40). I received the following via e-mail from Haemmerli concerning the service:
Dear Sir,
The modification of a Hämmerli 480 into a 480 K2 with detachable cylindrical air tank cannot be done elsewhere than here in Switzerland.
The costs for the modification in US Dollars is $ 235.--. This cost incl. 1 cylindrical air tank, if you request to have the second one also, you have to pay additionally $ 85.--. If you also request to have the trigger modified into the latest trigger with trigger stop, then the cost is $ 75.--. Due to the fact that we request prepayment before the repaired pistol is shipped back to you, we would submit you an offer before effecting the work where we will also include the shipping costs back to the USA. The turnaround will be approx. 2-3 weeks from the time we have received the pistol!
If you request to ship the pistol back, please put a covering letter into the box (for our gunsmith, in order that he knows what he has to do) and send all that to the following address:
Hämmerli Ltd.
Attn. Service Department
P.O. Box
CH-5600 Lenzburg 1 / Switzerland

I had this done a little over a year ago after my seals started leaking in the original 480 (with the yellow and black "lightning" cylinder). They said they couldn't guarantee the work if they replaced the seals on the 480, but they would guarantee it if they converted it to the K2. I only had them do the conversion, not the trigger, but I've been very pleased with it so far. They are a pleasure to deal with and ship the gun back to you free (I believe shipping costs over there with insurance and everything were around $80-90).
For Hämmerli shooters, I would highly recommend this conversion as well worth the money.
