What do IZH-46 Owners Use for a Pistol Case?

As I understand the IZH-46 and 46M don’t come with a case. What have the creative come up with?

If I recall correctly I bought a cheap attaché case from Office Depot for less then $25.... It actually holds two of my air pistols. I bought some foam and made cut outs. Go with fairly still foam.

Hi Brian, one of my used FWB 65's came in a green Plactic (polycarbonate?) Hoppes case, with foam inside. It's about 22x8x4 inches, and shouldn't cost more than about $25-$35 dollars i would think.
For those with a desire for the best, i've just ordered a Zero Halliburton case, model 103C, from AAA Camera in New York City (sales@aaacamera.com). I hadn't even heard of this case maker until i came across an eBay auction for one, and the current auction for this model was over $210 for a little used one, plus shipping. I followed the link to the manufacturer and became very impressed with their quality. (Used extensively in expeditions and such, great warrantee service also). This was the best price ($184.69 plus ship/tax in NYS) i could find on this 13x18x6 inch, high tinsel strength aluminum case with a neoprene seal closure and foam lining. They also make laptop, larger camera, briefcase, and even luggage size cases of similar quality. Prices really jump for some of the bigger ones, though (20x29x10 size lists for $540......ouch!) The model 103C, silver finish, seems the one best suited to my needs, and my 1988 vintage FWB 65 Mkll is deserving of the best "housing" i can afford. Either of these should fit your pistol, i would think, but the Zero Halliburton would run almost as much as your pistol did. The "Hoppes" would make more since in your case. If my FWB starts to fail me, though, it may get sent back down to the "Hoppes"!
Good luck,

I have one of those nice Halliburton cases for my extra shooting gear, scope, glasses, etc. but I only use it in town. I would never travel with it since it screams steal me ... expensive camera gear. :-(
Plus they really scratch and ding easily and show wear and tear...
If I was going to spend that type of money I would buy a Pelican case. Indestructible deformable plastic that doesn't show the wear and absorbs some of the impact before transmitting to the interior contents.
Check out the LINK to see those cases...

Hi Mako, yeah....the Zero Halliburton cases "might" be more prone to invite theft than a plastic case. But even a plastic one WILL disappear if left unattended. I am not one to leave anything of value in a car passenger area, (always in the trunk, and only for short periods!) or anywhere else where i wouldn't be with it. I'm probably the most security conscience anyone can be...I’ve been a Jewelry Repairman for 31 years! Keeping an eye on things is part of my subconscious (now if i could work it onto my trigger work!).
Th case i have coming is an unpainted silver finished aluminum one. Nicks and dents will probably happen. The nicks shouldn't show too badly as the color is the same all the way thru(reason I passed on a painted finish) and the dents i can remove to a great extent with a auto body hammer or other jewelry tools. The main reason i like THIS case is the super sealing from the elements and humidity if affords, with its neoprene seal. My FWB 65 MKll is becoming something really special to me, and I’d like to protect it the BEST I can. Unless we get long stretches of sweltering weather here (upstate NY) I don't even put in the one room air conditioner i have. The humidity can be bad, though, and this should prevent rust from showing up if I do my part with wiping everything down after use and putting a little silica gel in the well sealed case to suck up any trapped moisture. The only bad part of this choice, in my mind, is its rather steep initial cost. But that only hurts once and is soon forgotten.
Anyway, thanks for your thoughts.

Brian,
I found my pistol case on ebay. Just go to ebay home page and type in "pistol case" in the search box. I got a very nice aluminum case for under $50.00 granted it isn't as nice as the case Joseph spoke of but it does the job.

I bought an aluminum tool case from Wal Mart for $18 (may have been a closeout). It has a pre-scored foam interior that you can custom cut to fit your gun(s) and equipment. I have 3 guns plus supplies in it.
As its very light aluminum, it will not travel well, but I only use it for storing the guns in my house and taking them out to the backyard

I bought the Chinese made aluminum case from Lowe's Home Improvement for $23.95. It also comes with the scored foam that others mention. It's actually called a tool case.
The IZH fits well and there's room for pellets, targets, glasses and a few tools. I found that if you take out the foam in the shape of the pistol and cut it in half and replace it the pistol will be held snugly.
I looked on ebay for awhile but didn't want to pay the $35.00 plus shipping that seems popular. This case I bought is exactly the same as offered on ebay and cheaper too.

I just got a nice Doskocil #10089 from www.caseplaceusa.com, $28.00 plus shipping.
