Hi,
I was messing
around with one of my teammates FWB P70 last night and neither of us knew what
exactly the recoil absorber (the little tube on the left side of the gun)
consisted of or how it worked (and did it actually do anything useful).
Could someone here describe its operation to me?
Also, I shoot a
Anschutz 2002 pump gun (old school). Does the current crop of airguns (namely
PCA) offer any advantages? Some people tell me I should switch (though I think
namely to be fashionable), though I see no reason to do so.
Thanks!
Have
fun!

Airgun recoil
absorbers utilize a moving mass and barrel vents to counteract the recoil of
firing. When properly adjusted, the perceived recoil is minimal or non-existent.
The Steyr LP10 and Feinwerkbau P34 are the pistols currently equipped with these
devices.
Their value is controversial. The continued popularity of pistols
without these features, currently in use by top competitors, continues to fuel
this fire.
The Steyr LP10 has grown in popularity, but of recent appears to
have waned slightly. It is very popular with the women, but it is also one of
the lightest serious airpistols around.

Walther LP300 and Hammerli
AP40 also have recoil absorbers although for some strange reason Hammerli now
says it doesn't even though the diagram for the pistol clearly shows one?!
Perhaps a patent problem.
The AP40 and LP300 are lighter then the LP10 at
least with out their added weights.
