The Nanny Rock: For Sale

My personal Eden is for sale. And it is darn close to one.

One of the most unique pieces of property in the South is located just outside Monteagle, Tennessee. This land includes numerous rock bluffs formation including the Nanny Rock which was a local point of interest.

The view from the Nanny Rock on clear day is more than 70 miles. It’s a great spot for a picnic.

Here is a an aerial view of the property with the Nanny Rock being the white sport at about 4:00. This is an early springtime picture and you clearly see the difference in the trees leafing out on the sides of the mountain.

There is a year round spring that feeds into a half acre pond. The spring water is very sweet and I have drank it for the last 30 years.

Crystal clear water flows from that large black rock base.

So yes, that’s also a roof shot the house, and you can see the semi attached 40×40 picnic shelter. The house is a three story passive solar dwelling that works wonderfully. You can also see in the lower left corner the attached greenhouse on the South side.

The House

The house is passive solar that I designed and built. It has number of built in artistic features add either elegance or whimsy, not sure which .

There are a lot of Trilliums of different species that bloom in the spring and two are represented here in stained glass. Native hummingbirds are shown elsewhere in this glass.

and then there is bit of colorful art ,camouflaging a walk in bank vault door, the value area is 8′ x 24′ We call it the Fishbowl. There are 21 rooms in total across three floors

There are more interesting things, like tall Chines columns, a royal Chinese wedding bed, and another ceiling in Chinese tiles plus some other antique Chinese furniture.

And speaking of the cove, a 30-40 minute walk up the cove will you bring to Deer Lick Falls, (which is not on this property).

There is a total of 59 acres here, with an uber-private drive possible to access the property. Four separate bluff building sites. It also includes a former horse pasture of about 5 acres, another significant spring, several outbuildings, and barns. I might consider dividing the land for the right reasons. Additionally, there is a separate tract half a mile away with a nice rental cabin that could also be available. Sewanee is 20 minutes away, Chattanooga is 50 minutes away, Atlanta airport is 2.5 hours, and the Nashville airport is a 1.5 hour drive.
