General characteristics of the cosplay movement

Before turning to the cosplay movement, it is important to note the principles and motives that guide young people in their approach to certain styles and trends. It should be noted that some young people perceive subcultures as fashion trends and dress in such a way primarily to follow fashion trends. For others, on the contrary, subcultural norms and values are a priority, and adherence to a certain trend is part of the worldview, a lifestyle. Also, there are people who dress in a certain way only as part of some events: concerts, festivals, gatherings, parties, etc.

The attraction of people to cross-dressing and reincarnation has been observed since ancient times. People always want to imitate someone. The desire to reincarnate, to be someone else, to feel like a favorite character/hero prompts people to create costumes, makeup, use Star Wars props and organize colorful spectacular events, so tangibly giving a sense of another reality.

The popularity of cosplay

Currently, more and more popular around the world is such a movement as cosplay. Recall that cosplay is a peculiar incarnation of characters from anime, manga, computer games, movies and many other works (as well as possible cosplay singers), in reality. There are now a large number of major festivals, where cosplay takes a leading position. From thousands to hundreds of thousands of people gather at all kinds of anime and manga conventions around the world. And every year the number of cosplay events and participants increases.

It must be concluded that cosplay is close to theatrical performances and live-action role-playing games.
